Snatched Up
My company’s in the midst of bein' snatched up(ssshhh… I’m not supposed to know about it), so I’m on this mission to level up my skills with the tech-stack of the new Huncho. I’ve been with Node.js, React, and Python as as a side piece since my homie put me on to programming. I was all in on being cold with JavaScript; but in a ‘Demur’ sense, ya dig? But since pickin' up Ruby? Man, it’s like gettin' your hands on some top-shelf—smooth, to the point, and yeah- rare!
Ya’hurr
At first, I thought, “just another hustle- learn the language” But nah, Ruby got its own vibe. The syntax? It’s like tryna to meet that girl from the other side of town. You think you know her groove, but then you realize the switch up requires a bit of finesse. You know- that get rid of curly braces and ‘end’ everything the right way. I mean, Ruby got a lil’ elegance to her: the syntax, sexy like sundresses in the summer on a Sunday. Pssshhh… I found myself questioning my whole JavaScript game, ya’hurr?! Like why was I writin’ these long, complex lines when I could keep it tight and clean like Ruby does?
Oriented On Pimps
‘Dev talk’ would called this object-oriented programming; but Ruby will have you feeling like she’s only oriented on pimps. Learning how she’s ‘classy’ is what separates her from my main language. This language really allows for thinking about old habits, and why its necessary to re-evaluate how we structure Node projects. Ruby really pushes the issue of OOP(oriented on pimps): meaning, why would we focus on prototypes when we can deal with classes without the complex inheritance hierarchies. Pimp talk is knowing that Ruby handles encapsulation and inheritance like a baddie. She encourages you to think in terms of objects and their interactions, which helps you write code that’s not just functional but also easy to understand.
Time to Werk
Ruby’s showin’ me a different side of the game, and I’m lovin' it. It's a journey, but with each line of code, I’m closer to demonstrating that my grind is unrivaled. Keep hustlin', y’all. The world’s yours if you put in the work.
